3 Video Games To Try In May
Whether you’ve burned through your pandemic video game stash or have just wrapped up your spring cleaning and are looking to add a few more games to your collection, here are 3 new video games you need to get your hands on in this month.
Outriders
Outriders has caught the attention of gamers in 2021, being hailed as one of the year’s best games so far by Vulture:
“Outriders is a third-person cover-based shooter, which will likely sit well with any veterans of E-Day out there ... Players begin their journey in Outriders by selecting a class, which fits neatly into the standard warrior-caster-rogue triptych that has nourished every RPG since the birth of Dungeons & Dragons. You will earn a gradient of powerful loot to augment your abilities and soak down bosses who possess a ludicrous amount of hit points. That may sound fairly staid, but all these elements come together nicely.”
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
We gave you a two-for-one here, but both games deserve a fair shoutout. Matt Tate from Stuff explains why Nintendo’s newest releases are all the rage right now:
“We were a bit miffed at the slight laziness of last year’s (now extinct) Super Mario 3D All-Stars anniversary collection, which offered little more than three straight-up ports of Mario platformers past. But 2021’s Mario double pack is anything but a quick and easy cash grab.
Not only did we get Super Mario 3D World, a top tier 3D Mario game that too few people played given that it was a Wii U exclusive, but an entirely new game in Bowser's Fury to boot. And what a marvellous little experiment it is. Its miniature open-world structure could well be a test run for a full fat open-world Mario game in the future, while the genuinely terrifying Kaiju Bowser appearances add a level of tension that feels brilliantly out of place in one of the plumber’s adventures.
Unmissable for anyone who didn’t play 3D World the first time, and more than worthy of a double dip for those who did.”
The game is available on Nintendo Switch.
Hood: Outlaws & Legends
Here’s what Matthew Liebl from FanSided had to say about the upcoming release, set to hit the shelves on May 10th:
“I’ve been excited for Hood: Outlaws & Legends since the game was first announced a while back. As a fan of Robin Hood, the theme of the game alone was enough to get me hyped. But over the past few months, developer Sumo Newcastle has shared more details about the multiplayer action game. And the more they’ve revealed, the more excited I have become.
For those who haven’t heard of the game, Hood: Outlaws & Legends is a third-person, multiplayer action game with a PvPvE format (player-versus-player-versus environment). If you’ve played Destiny, think of it as a stealthier version of Gambit. Two teams of outlaws (players) compete against each other to infiltrate a keep run by the State and steal the treasure hidden within a keep’s vault.”
Hood: Outlaws & Legends will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
